How to Beat Pyromaniac in The First Descendant

Fight fire with fire?

The First Descendant has several difficult Void Intercept Battle bosses. In the middle of the campaign or main story missions, you’ll eventually have to deal with Pyromaniac to progress to the story. It has several dangerous attacks, but the mechanics are straightforward. Here’s how to beat Pyromaniac in The First Descendant.

Pyromaniac Boss Guide – The First Descendant

The Pyromaniac is a Fire attribute boss, no kidding. All Fire-based Descendants will have a hard time dealing damage with their skills, but at this point of the game, it doesn’t matter as long as your weapon DPS is decent.

The boss is weak against Chill, so the starter Descendant, Viessa, will be extremely strong here. Pyromaniac has several weak parts; you should target the core cover, the core (after breaking the core cover), and the shoulder. Once you damage the core and the shoulder, you can grapple to these removable parts and stun the boss for a couple of seconds.

As for the Pyromaniac’s attacks, it only has one extremely dangerous move. After dealing enough damage to Pyromaniac, it’ll start to spawn rings of fire on the stage. These rings expand wider and wider, but the trick is to stick to the middle or jump on top of the ring once. You only get damaged when you hit the ring.

However, these rings of fire will start to overlap one another because the Pyromaniac casts several of these rings of fire on the arena. You can go on top of the pillars to avoid them completely, but if Pyromaniac targets you, you must look for cover. If you are in this tight situation, you can grapple from the top of the pillar to the other pillars.

The Pyromaniac’s other attacks just require you to do a hit-and-run strategy when you are the target. You’ll have to pay attention to the Fireball attack since it will destroy those pillars and blocks.

Pyromaniac’s Immune Phase

Once the Pyromaniac becomes immune, it’ll spawn vials around its body parts, and you should target them whenever you can. There isn’t a time limit or any troubling mechanics here. If you have enough damage, you can take your time to get a better and safer angle to shoot these vials.

After finishing the Pyromaniac, you’ll encounter other bosses from missions throughout the campaign. You can read up on them here:
