Can You Add Elemental Damage to Weapons in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

You're cold as ice, and you'll pay the price.

Harnessing the power of the elements is a fantastic feeling in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but can you utilize this in your weaponry? If so, how do you make it happen, and can you craft it into your favorite piece of gear?

How To Embue Your Weapons with Elemental Powers in Dragon’s Dogma 2

There are a few different ways that the Arisen can utilize the power of the elements in battle. The first way is to employ the help of a Mage that will randomly imbue your weapons with Elemental Magic — if they know the weakness of the foe you’re facing, they’ll usually add that to your steeled weapons. You can also purchase weapons that are permanently buffed with a particular Elemental damage type, like the Spear that I possess that has permanent Ice Damage.

If you do purchase a weapon that is permanently imbued with Elemental Magic, you won’t be able to receive the additional boost from your Mage and their abilities. Make sure that you consider that before purchasing a weapon that has this type of buff, or you won’t be able to use this special skill.

Can You Craft Elemental Damage Onto Weapons in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

As you approach different towns and cities, you’ll have the opportunity to enhance your current weaponry or purchase new types of weapons. If you’re looking to add Elemental Magic here, you’ll be disappointed to learn that you cannot do so — the only way to do this is to purchase a weapon that already has Elemental Magic in it.

Much like dyeing armor or dyeing your hair, it’s a confusing and convoluted process that requires a fair bit of trial and effort before finding out what the true answer may be. This could be a feature that is added in at a later date, but it seems that the vendors here would rather make a bit of extra coin than help out the Arisen with this quest.
