You’ll find all kinds of interesting weapons, armor pieces, and accessories in Baldur’s Gate 3 that make your characters much more powerful. Here’s how to get the Sentient Amulet in BG3.
Where to Find the Sentient Amulet of the Cursed Monk in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Sentient Amulet is a rare item you can obtain from an Adamantine chest in the Grymforge at coordinates (X: -624, Y: 223). Once you find it, you have two options: succeed in a Sleight of Hand roll of 20 or loot the nearby skeleton to pick up the chest’s key.
Just be careful while traveling through here. You’ll find volcanic lava bursts everywhere, and an elemental guards the area.
If you’re confident in your lockpicking abilities or don’t mind reloading your saves on failed attempts, you can right-click the Adamantine chest and attempt to open it using Thieves’ tools. Since you need a roll of 20 or higher, using a character like Asterion with Sleight of Hand proficiency will give you an advantage. You can also use spells like Shadowheart’s Guidance to boost you slightly.
Alternatively, looking north from the chest’s location, you’ll find a skeleton holding the key. By jumping over here and avoiding the lava blasts, you can collect a key and use it to open the Adamantine Chest without wasting any of your Thieves’ tools.
What Does the Sentient Amulet Do in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Once you pick up the chest, you’ll encounter a cutscene where your character contemplates laughing hysterically before meeting a ghost Monk. Talking to this monk and agreeing to return him to his granddaughter begins the “Help the Cursed Monk” quest.
As for stats, the amulet provides the following spells and actions:
- Shatter – Level 2 Evocation Spell
- Talk to the Sentient Amulet (Class Action)
- Ki Restoration (Class Action)
Shatter is a powerful long-range ability that damages all nearby creatures. Enemies made of inorganic materials also gain Disadvantage on their Saving Throws. Talking to the amulet lets you chat with the ghost Monk again, while Ki Restoration lets you restore two Ki points.
Should You Sell or Keep the Sentient Amulet?
You should not sell the Sentient Amulet, you should keep it. The stats it has are fairly decent, as we like the abilities it offers. Plus, it’s only worth 210 GP, which honestly isn’t much. You’ll also lose out on some story and quests by selling it. Make sure to complete the quest before deciding to sell it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PC and soon on Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. To learn more about the game, check out whether Divine Intervention is one-time use in BG3, or click the game tag below to discover our growing article collection.
