Baldur’s Gate 3: What Does Divine Intervention Do? – Answered

How many times can you ask for the favor of Gods?

Cleric is a favorite class of many players regardless of which RPG game we are talking about, and it’s almost always a welcome member to any party due to the variety of benefits the class can provide. In Baldur’s Gate 3, Cleric has the “Divine Intervention” ability and, if you have it, you may be wondering if Divine Intervention is a one-time use ability or if you will have it at your disposal multiple times, and we are here to answer that.

Can You Use Divine Intervention Multiple Times in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Divine Intervention is, sadly, a one-time use spell in Baldur’s Gate 3. That means you need to use it only in the most dire of all situations, as the divine entities and powers that be won’t give you infinite favors. Or, in other terms, your plot armor card can only be played once. Divine Intervention is acquired when your Cleric hits Level 10. There are a handful of Divine Interventions that you can choose from, but you won’t be allowed to use more than one. You have to choose exactly one. Or, you can “save scum” when things do not go the way you planned and imagined them. The Save and Load function can be used an infinite amount of times.

What is the Best Divine Intervention in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Here are all of the Divine Interventions that are available in Baldur’s Gate 3. The list is subjective, but I’ll try to give each of them another angle which will hopefully inform you well enough for you to make a choice on how you will use your “pink slip” in BG3.

  • Arm Thy Servant – Gives you a Devotee Mace. A respectable weapon, but… Somewhere down the line, you’ll get better weapons. And, if you are a person that doesn’t like maces, tough luck.
  • Golden Generosity – This one is something like a “care package air-drop”, which contains a lot of different camp supplies and potions. To me, this looks like a shortcut to grinding and potion crafting, and I do not think it might be worth it to “invest” a one-time spell into consumables that are otherwise pretty accessible.
  • Opulent Revival – This one is my favorite. It resurrects all of your allies immediately, with 50% of their maximum health. And if you’re not sold on that alone, they come back as long-rested. No Billy Mays sales lines are needed. That’s the spell.
  • Sunder the Heretical – This version of the Divine Intervention deals between 8 and 80 damage (based on your roll). Given the circumstances, this is my second favorite. It can quickly make a huge impact on the fight you’re in. If you want to live and die by the dice, this just might be the choice for you.
