Starfield: How to Sell Ships for Credits

To sell a ship in Starfield, simply speak to any Ship Services Technician vendor found in major spaceports or cities. The Ship Services hub will almost always be found near the landing pad outside of major cities and settlements.

When you speak to the vendor, choose the “Let me see what ships you have for sale” option to open the menu. At the bottom-right of your screen, you will notice the input needed to switch between Buy and Sell in the shop menu. On PC, it’s R by default.

Make sure you don’t sell your ship to someone who has less credits than what your ship is worth!

Before you decide to sell a ship, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

Firstly, you cannot sell your Home ship, meaning you’ll have to have at least two ships at the very minimum to even consider selling one.

Secondly, you must register a ship before you can sell it. That means paying a hefty fee for any captured or stolen ships first. Unfortunately, this cuts pretty deep into any potential profits in the stolen ship market, but you’ll still come out making credits.

That’s all there is to selling a ship in Starfield. Now that you know how to make some easy credits, why not put those to use towards your Home ship? Check out our guide on how to upgrade your ship in Starfield so that you won’t break a sweat the next time you’re in a dogfight.

How to Refresh the Credits NPCs Have in Starfield

Refreshing an NPC’s credits is pretty handy if you have a ton of stuff to sell, but don’t want to wait that long. Generally, it takes 24 local hours to refresh a vendor. You can rest at any seat, including your ship’s pilot seat. Just wait 24 hours, then go back to the vendor, and their credits should be replenished.

To maximize this, you should also try to increase the total amount of available credits a vendor has by buying their goods, while also selling to all vendors in the area before refreshing.

All Ship Service Technician Locations

Ship Services Technicians can repair, modify, and upgrade your ship. Here are the locations for each:

  • Neon (Volii Alpha – Volii System) – Go to the left of the landing pad and enter the office to find this technician
  • Stroud-Eklund Staryard (Dalvik – Narion System) – Go to the first area and speak with Havershaw
  • The Key (Kryx System) – The technician here is an NPC named Jazz, who will be in the area where you first land
  • The Red Mile (Porrima III – Porrima System) – You’ll need to jump three times past Alpha Centauri. This is the same area where you first get your shielded cargo hold
  • Hopetown (Polvo – Valo System) – The technician is right by the main landing pad
  • New Atlantis (Jemison) – You can’t miss this technician, as he’s the first one you’ll encounter. He’ll be right in front of your ship when starting out
  • Deimos Staryard (Deimos – Sol System) – This technician is one of the ship makers you’ll find in the Sol system by default
  • Gagarin (Gagarin – Alpha Centauri System) – You’ll find a technician in this area. It’s close to the beginning of the game
