How to Get a Boost Pack in Starfield

To get a Boost Pack in Starfield, you’ll need to loot one off of a dead Spacer, Pirate, or another random enemy you may find. You’ll also be given one on the main story path after making it to New Atlantis and talking with the members of the Constellation. Then, you can go into your inventory and equip any pack that has the words “Basic Boostpack” on the bottom. This means it will have a boost ability.

You’ll find these scattered across the galaxy no matter what planet you’re on. Be sure to always check in houses, buildings, and on dead bodies for new packs. You can also mod them with a workbench to increase the capacity and other effects.

An easy spot to find them is on the moon, where you must kill the space pirates, including Brogan, as part of the main quest. Many of these Space Pirates have packs with Basic Boosters. Loot their bodies after killing them for an easy Boost Pack.

How to Use a Boost Pack in Starfield

To use a Boost Pack, you need first to acquire the skill under the Tech skill tree. This seems like a silly way to do it, but even if you have a Boost Pack, you won’t have access to the actual ability until you unlock the skill.

Go to your Skill Tree, tab over to the ‘Tech’ section, and click on the ability in the first row called “Boost Pack Training.”

Rank 1 will give you access to the boosters. To use them, you only need to hold the jump button while you’re in the air for an additional boost.

Each Boost Pack Training rank will further increase the pack’s efficiency:

  • Rank 1: You can now utilize Boost Packs.
  • Rank 2: Using a Boost Pack expends less fuel.
  • Rank 3: Boost Pack fuel regenerates more quickly.
  • Rank 4: Doubles previous bonuses.
