Name your favorite video game, anime, or nerdy movie in recent history, and there’s a chance that Matt Mercer was voicing someone in it. He was Chrom in Fire Emblem: Engage, Jotaro in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Cassidy in Overwatch 2, and Leon in Resident Evil 6.

But… is he the voice of Ganondorf in the much-anticipated Legend of Zelda game, Tears of the Kingdom? Fans seem to think so.

He definitely wants to be

In a gameplay trailer released on April 13, 2023, rehydrated Ganondorf was revealed for the first time. And he made his comeback with a big, black-and-red splash. But what had fans perk their ears up with Ganondorf’s scream and villainously delivered line, “Do not look away. You witness a king’s revival… and the birth of his new world.”

UPDATE (APRIL 14):

A few hours after the trailer released, Matt Mercer himself confirmed the fantastic news. He is indeed playing Ganondorf.
