World of Warcraft: The Kalimdor Cup, Explained

From now until August 25, you can participate in circuits to earn badges and buy rewards. First thing’s first – talk to Lord Andestrasz next to the Rostrum of Transformation in Valdrakken for the intro quest. This will take you through three introductory races as a primer before you’ll be able to access the other races.

There are sixteen cups total with three races each spread out across Kalimdor. Each race rewards up to three badges, one for each rank of bronze, silver, or gold. This means you can earn a total of 154 badges per character, but you only need 240 badges to purchase all currently available rewards.

Kalimdor Cup Rewards

The currently available rewards are purchasable from the NPC Maztha in Valdrakken using your Riders of Azeroth Badges:

  • Windborne Velocidrake: Teal Scales – 50 badges
  • Winding Slitherdrake: Curved Nose Horn – 25 badges
  • Winding Slitherdrake: Blonde Hair – 25 badges
  • The Drake Racer Dragonriding transmog set – 20 badges per piece, 140 badges total

If you’re aiming for just the transmog set (and why wouldn’t you be, just look at it!) you’re all set to run everything on just one character – getting gold on all races will net you the required 140 badges, plus 14 extra. But if you want the whole shebang, you’ll need to run everything again on an alt to get enough badges for the drake customizations as well.

Dragon racing is a great way to kill some time in these twilight days of Season 2 as we wait for bigger and better things. If you’re curious as to what those might be, what if I told you a Classic WoW dungeon is getting an overhaul sooner than later?
