What to Do With Pirate Transponders in No Man’s Sky

Shoot down some pirates

Pirate Transponders are one of the new kinds of resources that players can get in No Man’s Sky. This particular item has been added as part of the latest Orbital update, but there’s a lot of smoke surrounding it. While the transponders are available pretty easily, many players have yet to find out how to get and use them effectively.

How to Get Pirate Transponders in No Man’s Sky

Getting Pirate Transponders in No Man’s Sky is actually one of the easiest jobs. All you have to do is to encounter pirate ships in space and shoot them down. In fact, this is pretty much made clear by the recent set of patch notes.

“Vanquished pirate starships now yield Pirate Transponders, which can be donated to the Mercenaries Guild for a boost to standing.”

Hence, whenever you’re in space and find the pirates, just shoot them down, and you’ll have plenty of transponders in no time

How to Use Pirate Transponders in No Man’s Sky

This is the harder part, as simply collecting the Transponders won’t have any use at all. When it comes to Transponders, they have a very specific use case scenario – donations.

  • The guy you’re looking for can be found in the station, on the second floor. Look for in the corners, and he should be sitting behind a desk.
  • You’ll have to hope he belongs to the Mercenaries Guild Union (denoted by the shield symbol)
  • In case he doesn’t belong to the correct union, you won’t be able to exchange the transponders as well.

When you exchange the transponders, your standing with the Mercenaries Guild will go up. Unfortunately, these transponders as of now have no other uses, which is a slight disappointment. Nevertheless, they’re easy to get, and you can collect plenty of them quickly. Just make sure to turn them in the next time you’re at a space station.

There have been plenty of brilliant additions made by the latest update, and one of them includes the ability to build your own custom ship.
