What is Weapon Rating in Warhammer 40K: Darktide? – Answered

I rate this axe an 8.7/10.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide has a lot of stats that you need to contest with, and not all of them are clear. As one example, many of the individual weapon stats with stat bars aren’t the clearest as to what they do. On the bright side, the team is done better as far as explaining things a little more clearly. There’s still one aspect that has players confused, though. Here’s what Weapon Rating is in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

Is Weapon Rating Useful in Darktide?

Weapon Rating exists on weapons, though partially on Curios, with slightly less usefulness. It’s the small number in the bottom right of each weapon that ranges anywhere from 80 at the start of the game all the way up to the 500s. With how it’s presented, you may assume this number dictates the raw damage output. You’d be mistaken, though, as it has to do with much more than that.

Weapon Rating dictates how many points can go into all of the stat bars on a weapon. Think of it as a pool, which all of the stat bars will pick from until it’s completely empty. This means that while one weapon could have 40% Damage and 40% Stopping Power, another weapon could have 30% Damage, lowering its output, but could also have 80% Stopping Power, making it do some incredible stagger. This makes Weapon Rating technically more valuable, though it depends on what you want from the weapon. If you want more damage, you’ll have a better time looking at the stat bars instead.

Curios are slightly less so, only gaining some partial stat bonuses instead and with much less frequency. This isn’t to say it’s bad to have, though just don’t expect it to offer too many tangible gameplay benefits.
