Warhammer 40K: Darktide Weapon Stats Explained

You never know how useful stat descriptions are until they're gone.

So many games tend to hide stat-related boosts behind weird naming and obscure systems, and Warhammer 40K: Darktide is no exception. One look at any weapon and you’ll likely be left so confused you’ll just go for the bigger Power Level instead of individual stats, which can hurt you when it comes to end-game build crafting. All Weapon Stats in Darktide

There are a lot of weapon stats across both melee and ranged weapons, so we’ve created a list of each individual weapon stat and its meaning. These are in no particular order, so come back and take a look at whichever stat you might be confused about for clarity.

  • Damage: Overall damage of a weapon
  • Mobility: Dodging and sprinting related bonuses
  • Cleave Targets: How many targets your melee weapon will pass through
  • Cleave Damage: Damage dealt to enemies after the first target in a swing
  • Finesse: Headshot/weak point damage multiplier
  • First Target: Damage to the first target in a swing
  • Penetration: Damage to carapaced (armored) targets
  • Defences: Stamina used when blocking and pushing targets
  • Stopping Power: Amount target is staggered (stunned) by attacks
  • Stability: Recoil/Sway while aiming down sights
  • Ammo: Total ammo a weapon has
  • Crowd Control: Power of the weapon’s stagger (this stat is for shield weapons specifically)
  • Collateral: Penetration for certain ranged weapons
  • Critical Bonus: Bonus critical damage (shocking I know)
  • Reload Speed: How fast the weapon can reload
  • Blast Radius: The size of a weapon’s explosive area of effect
  • Charge Speed: Increases the speed at which a staff recharges
  • Quell Speed: Determines how fast Perils of the Warp will cool down
  • Warp Resistance: Reduces peril generated on weapon ability
  • Burn: The amount of fire damage over time the weapon will do
  • Cloud Radius: The size of a flame-based weapon’s flame
  • Shredder: Damage dealt by the special action hit of chain-based weapons (Chainsword, Chainaxe, Eviscerator)
  • Thermal Resistance: Heat used on heat-based weapons

With this all said and done, you may be wondering what each of the stat bars signifies. These of course mean how much of each stat comes into effect but also is defined by the power level of your weapon. As an example, a 200 level Lasgun and a 400 level Lasgun will remain at the same damage roughly, but other stats like Stability will be increased on the higher-level weapon. Otherwise, use these stats to determine how a weapon should be used. Different stat names are used for different weapons, so if a weapon has both Penetration and First Target, for example, it’s best used for attacking Specials and Elites rather than horde-clearing.

While that takes care of stats, we also want to take a moment to mention the symbols shown in the bottom right corner of weapon portraits. For melee weapons, these represent your Light Attack, Heavy Attack, and Special Action. For ranged weapons, these are your Primary Fire, Secondary Fire, and Special Action. Pressing V to inspect a melee weapon will also show you different combos that you can perform for the best efficiency.
