With the upcoming act for Valorant, two maps will see some major changes to help freshen up their gameplay. Here are all Icebox changes with Episode 8 Act 1.
Every Icebox Change in Valorant Episode 8 Act 1
For Icebox, Riot appears to be changing Mid, B Site, and the Attacker Spawn in various ways while leaving A Site to how it is now.
Mid
The main focus of the Icebox Mid changes has to do with Tube, which has proven to be a very strong attacker push point. As such, a window has been added deeper into Tube that gives defenders a strong sightline into Mid itself, while leaving those pushing Tube exposed to much of Defender Spawn. Some boxes were also placed in Tube to give defenders some cover.
B Site
B Site has had changes mainly to both B Main and the area around Snowpile. B Main’s green box that once hovered above has been removed, exposing a massive blindspot that defenders could utilize to catch players out. As for Snowpile, the route between Snowpile itself and B Site has been blocked off on one site, removing one of the two long sightlines that left those moving through the area completely exposed.
Attacker Spawn
The changes with Attacker Spawn are mostly to respond to the Mid changes, but also have noticeable gameplay changes. A box has been added to the left side of the entrance to Mid, cutting off a major sightline that could be used by either side for a direct shot into Attacker Spawn.
All around, these changes seem to mostly be focused on reducing the focus on Mid for attackers while making B Main much less frustrating to push. I’ve always struggled with B Main myself, so I’m happy to see the changes.
