King Frost is an icon for many reasons, but getting this plump ruler is a bit more difficult than originally anticipated. Let’s see which Persona we’ll need to bring to the chopping block to get our hands on this rotund ruler in Persona 3 Reload.
How to Unlock King Frost in P3R
To unlock King Frost in P3R and get your hands on this plump patriarch, you’ll need to gather up a few items first and foremost. The first thing you’ll need to get is a Sugar Key, which can be obtained by completing request #24 for Elizabeth in the Velvet Room.
Request #24 is part of the second set of requests unlocked on June 13, 2009, and it will require us to fuse a Persona that is level 23 or higher. Once done, speak with Elizabeth again to get your hands on the Sugar Key and start the process of getting your King Frost.
How To Fuse King Frost In Persona 3 Reload (P3R)
Make your way into the Velvet Room and get ready to start fusing some Personas to finally obtain King Frost. While you would think that a Persona like this could come to be by fusing Jack Frost and Pyro Jack, you’ll need to get a bit more creative than that.
Some of the easiest methods to fuse King Frost are through the following Persona combinations:
- Power (Justice) & Leanan Sidhe (Empress).
- Lamia (Hermit) & Matador (Strength).
- Leana Sidhe (Empress) & Goemon (Emperor) – Requires DLC.
There are other fusions to get King Frost added to your team, but these are going to be some of the most readily available Personas for you to use to achieve your dreams of getting King Frost added as quickly as possible.
If you’re struggling to find the right Persona to fuse, you can always use the Fusion Search option to have Igor help you create the perfect fusion you may need. As you progress further through the game, you may also receive a Special Fusion request that will prompt you with the exact Personas you’ll need for King Frost.
Does King Frost Appear During Shuffle Time in Persona 3 Reload?
After completing a difficult battle, you may occasionally find powerful Personas waiting for you in Shuffle Time. While pushing through Tartarus, you may be wondering if King Frost will ever be waiting for you during these moments, and we can confirm that King Frost does not appear during Shuffle Time. He is a Fusion Exclusive Persona, so you’ll need to obtain the prior item and Personas to make this happen.
While this may be upsetting to anyone who has played through Persona 4 Golden, since King Frost could be obtained through this particular method there, it makes finally getting your hands on this Persona all the more gratifying. You may not be able to use King Frost through the early game, but that’s what Jack Frost and Pyro Jack are there for — both are as powerful as they are adorable.
King Frost Skills in P3R
King Frost’s major importance in Persona 3 Reload is for access to the protagonist’s King and I Fusion Spell, which will inflict heavy ice damage to all foes and potentially freeze them when used. But otherwise, King Frost is a useful Persona to have on reserve during P3R’s mid-game for his defensive capabilities and medium ice damage. Here are all the skills King Frost will learn as he levels up and what they do:
Level | Skill | Effect |
---|---|---|
34 | Bufula | Deal medium Ice damage to a single target. |
34 | Freeze Boost | Increases chances of inflicting Freeze. |
34 | Rakukaja | Increase an ally’s Defense. |
35 | Mabufula | Deal medium Ice damage to all enemies. |
36 | Ice Break | Reduces a foe’s Ice resistance to average. |
37 | Marakukaja | Increase the entire party’s Defense. |
39 | Null Ice | Nullifies damage from Ice attacks. |
You’ll also want King Frost to fuse Black Frost in a Special Fusion. Not only is Black Frost the other half of the King and I Fusion Spell but it has an even stronger and more versatile skillset than King Frost, making Black the true breadwinner of all the Frost bros.
