The original Fusion Spells, where the protagonist uses a stylish attack combining two of his Personas, are back in Persona 3 Reload as his Theurgy. These are some of the best attacks in the game, and here’s a complete list of them.
How Theurgy Fusion Spells Work in Persona 3 Reload
You will automatically unlock the Theurgy mechanic for all characters on 6/13. With the exception of the Protagonist, each party member will have access to one base Theurgy Spell and an additional Spell once their Personas evolve. Theurgy Spells are extremely powerful attacks that ignore enemy resistances, and you can trigger them with a press of a button once a character’s Theurgy gauge is full.
But while each party member gets access to up to two Theurgies, the Protagonist has a variety of them that represent some of the Fusion Spells present in previous versions of the game. Different from other versions of Persona 3, all you need to use Fusion Spells in Reload is to have obtained both Personas to be registered in the Persona Compendium at some point and a full Theurgy gauge.
All Protagonist Theurgy Fusion Spells in Persona 3 Reload, Listed (P3R)
Elizabeth will inform you once you obtain a new Theurgy. Many of the Personas required are part of her fusion requests at one point or another.
Past versions of Persona 3 included many Fusion Spells, but it seems the number of Spells has been reduced to only seven in P3R. All Fusion Spells have been rebalanced to accommodate Reload’s changes, but some are still completely busted.
Here are all of the Fusion Spells in Persona 3 Reload and their effects:
Theurgy | Personas required | Effect |
Cadenza | Orpheus + Apsaras | Restores 50% HP and increases Accuracy/Evasion for all allies. |
Jack Brothers | Jack Frost + Jack’o Lantern | Deals medium Almighty damage to all foes. High chance of inflicting Down. |
King and I | King Frost + Black Jack | Heavy Ice damage to all foes, ignoring resistances. Medium chance of Freeze. |
Best Friends | Decarabia + Forneus | Next physical/magical attack will deal more than double damage for 1 ally. |
Scarlet Havoc | Siegfried + Mithras | Deals severe Slash damage to all foes, ignoring resistances. |
Trickster | Loki + Susano’o | Massive Almighty damage to all foes. High chance of inflicting an ailment. |
Armageddon | Satan + Helel | Ultimate Almighty damage to all foes, but reduces user’s HP and SP to 1. |
Some Personas that are needed to unlock Fusion Spells require you to max out certain Social Links to obtain. Namely, Susano’o and Helel won’t be accessible until you max out the Fool and Star Social Links respectively.
Notably, Armageddon is still the overpowered 1-shot button that instantly kills any adversary it encounters, including formidable enemies such as the Reaper. It’s an extremely late-game spell, as Helel can only be fused at Level 88, and the spell also comes with a harsh price. This is heavily mitigated if you have a Persona with Life Aid or Victory Cry.
It’s nice to see how Fusion Spells are still relevant, as they were one of the most interesting things in the previous versions of Persona 3. From the many changes made in Reload (such as the new answers for Classroom questions), this is definitely one of my favorites.
