There’s nothing quite like entering a new video game world and having the freedom to explore the land to your heart’s content without feeling pressured to follow a linear path the whole way through. Let’s talk about whether Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an open-world game.
Is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora an Open World Game?
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an open-world, action-adventure game where you can freely travel through the map, fight enemies, and gather resources to improve your character. You’ll journey around Pandora on foot by riding on ground mounts or flying in the sky using air mounts.
Although based on the Avatar movie, Frontiers of Pandora will have a standalone story in the Avatar universe. In other words, while the game will have many similarities to the movie, the region you explore, the Western Frontier, is never seen in film.
In Frontiers of Pandora, you play as a powerful Na’vi fighting against the Resources Development Administration, or RDA. While many of your battles will take place on land, you’ll also get to fight in the skies against aerial enemies as you progress through the game’s story.
Despite already having considerable strength, you can improve your gear, skills, and weapons, with much of your resources coming from Pandora’s open world. You’ll also encounter alien life who you can interact with or use to gain additional crafting materials.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to release on December 7, 2023, on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with no current plans to launch on PS4 or Xbox One.
