Once you discover a Rest Spot, usually represented by a campfire, it will be marked on the map with a yellow handshake-like icon. To use it, approach the campfire and press A to interact which will trigger the Rest Spot menu to open. Here, you can do the following:

  • Level Up – Use the EXP you earned to increase your characters’ levels. You can press the + button as a shortcut to instantly level all party members up at a Rest Spot if you have the EXP.
  • Discuss– At certain moments in the game, this option will appear, through which it is possible to talk with your party, as well as sometimes pick up standard quests.
  • Craft Gems – This option unlocks a little later on but here you can craft Gems that increase stats and provide your characters with some boosts. You can craft them with coins, or with materials.
  • Cook – Make dishes that give you temp boosts from the list of unlocked recipes. Also, you can use coins or materials here. Check out the full recipe list here.
  • Save – Option to save game progress manually.
  • Clean Clothes – This gives your party a refresh if their clothes get dirty from travels and battles.

These are all the Rest Spot options in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. And as if they couldn’t get any more useful, they can also be used as points for free fast travel.
