How to Solve Astaroth Bug in Diablo 4

A boss that refuses to be beaten...

If you’re like me (and so many others), you’ve encountered a particularly frustrating bug in Diablo IV’s campaign. Here’s how to solve the Astaroth bug in Diablo IV.

What to Do with Bugged Astaroth Fight in Diablo IV

Astaroth is a particularly fiendish boss, with his massive bulk taking up half of the arena and his area-of-effect attacks taking up the other half. But if you’ve managed to bring him to heel, you might have found yourself standing next to his corpse and just… waiting. No loot drops, your quest doesn’t update, and the world just comes to a standstill. If this has happened to you, you’re the unfortunate victim of the Astaroth bug.

Unfortunately, I encountered this bug during the review build a few weeks ago. I then encountered it again on launch day, which unfortunately means that this bug is still very much alive and kicking. And I’m very sad to say, there’s only one way to fix it. You need to restart your game.

Yeah, that means you’ll need to go all the way back to the boss arena and fight Astaroth again. I’ve found that killing the boss too quickly seems to also be a trigger for it, so try to take your time on the last leg of the fight. But note that you might have to kill Astaroth up to three times before you can progress. The only positive thing? You’ll probably be a pro at bringing this demonic puppy down once everything’s said and done.

The negative? You’ll have wasted a chunk of time that could have been spent hunting down Altars of Lilith. And since you’re in Scosglen anyway, why not grab those Altars of Lilith if you need a break? Check them out here: Diablo 2: All Altars of Lilith in Scosglen.
