How to Smelt Ores in Path of Exile 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur

Smelt your way to more currency!

The metallurgy system in Path of Exile’s Settlers of Kalguur league is unnecessarily confusing. You’ll mark ores for workers, wait for workers to mine them, and then smelt processed ores to get bars. The last step has some prerequisites, and you’ll have to go through a lot of bumps to unlock smelting. Here’s how to smelt ores in Path of Exile 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur.

How to Unlock Smelting Ores in Path of Exile 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur

Smelting is a whole different specialization for workers, which needs to be unlocked before you can start smelting your mined or processed ores. Smelting is unlocked by getting rank 2 on Recruitment, and you need 20 gold, 3 Crimson Iron Ores, and 3 Orchicalcum Ores to establish the Smelting Station. When you have the materials ready, go east of the waypoint, and you’ll find the construction hammer icon to build the Smelter.

Once you have finished all these prerequisites, you can now manage your Smelter. Interact with the board, and you’ll see the smelting management window, as seen in the image above. Tap on the “Manage Workers” icon, and you can assign workers to smelt your mined ores.

However, you still need some workers who specialize in Smelting. Go to Raulf in the town hall and recruit some new workers. You want workers who have a high Smelting rank so you can speed up your smelting or bar production.

How to Speed Up Smelting in Path of Exile 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur

Apart from hiring better workers with Mining specializations to speed up smelting, you can also increase your Smelting rank by tapping on the construction hammer and clicking upgrading. Smelting Speed increases at ranks 3, 9, and 11. Once you reach rank 11, you can increase smelting by up to 60% more.

However, the most impactful method is just to increase your maximum smelters and allocate more workers for each ore.

Each mined ore or mineral needs to be unlocked through Smelting ranks. Here’s the list of ores and their corresponding required ranks:

  • Crimson Iron and Orichalcum Ores – Rank 1
  • Petrified Amber Ores – Rank 2
  • Bismuth Ores – Rank 5
  • Verisium Ores – Rank 7

Players should rush upgrading their Smelting so they can unlock other features, such as mapping and disenchanting. These endgame features require smelted bars for the upgrades, so you need to start production fast.
