How to Reset Your Descendant Level in The First Descendant

Time to prestige!

The First Descendant has a prestige mechanic, similar to Call of Duty games, where you can reset one of your Descendant’s levels to 1 and become even stronger. The mechanic is sensible because you can reach the maximum level before completing half of the campaign missions. Here’s how to reset your Descendant’s level in The First Descendant and what benefits you get from resetting.

How to Reset From Max Level in The First Descendant

You must reach level 40, or the max level, on the specific Descendant you want to reset to reset your level. Once you have maxed out a Descendant’s level, you also need a Crystallization Catalyst. You automatically get one when you finish the campaign. However, you can only get it once through this method.

You can also research the Crystallization Catalyst through Anais in Albion. You can get all the materials from the Descendant Trainer when you finish the “Something Can Be Improved” sub-quest. You can only get these rewards once.

Once you have a Crystallization Catalyst, go to your Descendant Module page. Look at the right side and select “Module Additional Settings.” Another window will show up, and then select “Assign Module Socket Type.” Choose an empty module slot and select the appropriate socket type you want to apply. These socket types will reduce the required capacity by half for a specific module if they fit the socket type.

Once you have applied the socket type, your Descendant’s level will automatically reset. This is the main way to increase your Descendant’s power once you reach the endgame. You’ll continuously reset their level to apply these socket types to fit in more modules.

Where to Get Crystallization Catalysts in The First Descendant

You can research the Crystallization Catalyst through Anais, the Magister. You’ll need the following materials:

  • 22x Macromolecule Biogel
  • 8x Mixed Energy Residue
  • 8x Murky Energy Residue
  • 18x Advanced Neural Circuits
  • 1x Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint

You get the Macromolecule Biogel from Muskeg Swamp and Derelict Covert Vulgus Strategic Outpost missions in Echo Swamp.

Mixed Energy Residue is from opening Encrypted Vaults on normal or hard mode in the Agna Desert.

The best way to get Murky Energy Residue is from the Forgottense dungeon. You can click our guide here for the best strategy or route.

Advanced Neural Circuits is best farmed in White-night Gulch, specifically the Fortress Outskirts mission. You’ll activate four devices that you have to defend, and each device will spawn a commander who drops them, including another one at the end of the mission.

Crystallization Catalyst Blueprints drop from various Void Intercept Battles, depending on the Amorphous Material Pattern used.
