Amorphous Materials Patterns in The First Descendant, Explained

Once you finish a few Operations, you might get an Amorphous Material Pattern with a certain number written on the item. You can think of these Amorphous Materials as a free “loot box” you must open. The components or materials in its descriptions are the items and their drop rates.

You’ll come across specific names in the material components that are quite familiar. Some blueprints are materials for crafting or researching other Descendants so you can unlock them. For example, the image above has “Lepic Spiral Catalyst Blueprint.” Lepic is an unlockable Descendant in the game, and you’ll need this blueprint to unlock and research material to get Lepic. You can also see a tiny icon with the Descendant’s face on the item.

The number on the Amorphous Material Pattern corresponds to the materials you can find inside them. If you want to farm a specific Descendant, you’ll need to get all the materials for it, and you should memorize the Amorphous Material Pattern numbers you need to get.

How to Open Amorphous Material Patterns in The First Descendant

Once you farm these Amorphous Material Patterns through Operations or other activities, you’ll still have to open them. Each Amorphous Material Pattern has a specific Void Intercept Battle tied to it. You can open your world map and look at the Void Intercept Battles on the lower left portion of the map.

Browse through each of the bosses and look for the “Linked Amorphous Material Pattern” in the description of the Void Intercept Battle. Your Amorphous Material Pattern in your inventory will show up here with a check mark. You can check all the bosses, and if you have a checkmark on any of the Amorphous Material Patterns, you should run the boss fight to open them.

Luck plays a big role here, as you can see in the drop rates on each material under the Amorphous Material Pattern. If you don’t want to rely on luck, you can buy some Calibers and the Descendants from the in-game shop.
