How To Pressure & Stagger Venorats in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Video by Prima Games

If you’re hoping to put the pressure on these weirdly adorable little critters, you should use Ice Materia to make that happen. In the video above, I used Yuffie’s Ice Ninjutsu to deliver small doses of pain to the Venorats, as they aren’t truly capable of taking a lot of damage. Make sure that you’re ready to jump in with Ice Materia, and take down the first Fiend Challenge that comes your way.

If you’ve remembered to equip Assess Materia on a member of your party, you’ll see that the Venorat is susceptible to Pressure by using its elemental weakness — in this case, Ice Attacks. Continue laying on the attack, and you’ll have this one done faster than you can say Venorat three times. Frankly, you may beat them too fast and have to go at it solo to complete all of the challenges in this mission.

Unlike the Thunderclaws with no discernable weakness through this Materia, this one is a bit easier to decipher overall. It will be more difficult to keep them alive long enough to stagger them instead of straight-up killing them, to be fair, so maybe be a little gentle with them.

How To Complete Fiend Intel 1: Voracious and Venomous in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To fully complete Fiend Intel 1: Voracious and Venomous in FF7 Rebirth, you’ll need to do the following objectives:

  • Pressure Venorat.
  • Stagger Venorat.
  • Avoid being poisoned.

The most difficult part of this mission is avoiding poison, so either play as someone that can attack from a distance like Aerith, Barret, or Yuffie, or continuously put pressure on them with heavy hitters like Cloud or Tifa. These pumped-up rats won’t know what hit them.
