Assassin’s Creed fans got a pleasant surprise to start September 2022 when a leak and subsequent announcement from Ubisoft confirmed the next entry in the popular series with the introduction of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. While there are few details on the game so far, according to images leaked and those directly from Ubisoft, Mirage appears to take inspiration from the “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves” Middle Eastern folk legend, and reportedly will include Basim, a character from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as its protagonist. According to the Assassin’s Creed Twitter account, “We can’t wait to tell you more on September 10 at Ubisoft Forward: 9PM CEST | 12PM PT.”
However, while series veterans will wait in anticipation for more news on the thirteenth main entry into the Assassin’s Creed series, newcomers to the games may find themselves facing even more confusion on where to begin in with such a massive back catalog of main titles and spinoffs for Ubisoft’s lucrative franchise that will turn 15 years old in November 2022. This guide is here to help those who may not have yet explored Assassin’s Creed’s science fiction meets alternate history stories, and will present each of twelve previous main series’ entries in chronological order including their release dates, the game’s protagonist, historical settings, and platforms each title can be played on.
