Netflix continues to churn out video game television adaptations. Just last month, it released the Dragon’s Dogma anime, and now it has announced an Assassin’s Creed television series.

The show will feature Jason Altman and Danielle Krenik as Executive Producers. Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Assassin’s Creed try to jump into the world of film/television.
The 2016 film featuring Michael Fassbender was released to mostly middling reviews. So let’s hope this time things work out a little better.
There is a little more information on Ubisoft’s website on its plans for more than just the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
“Assassin’s Creed is coming to streaming devices and no, we’re not talking about xCloud or Luna. A brand-new, live-action Assassin’s Creed series is coming to Netflix. The deal includes multiple different series, the first of which will be a genre-bending live-action epic, while the others will be animated and anime adaptations. The live-action series is currently searching for a showrunner. Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as executive producers.”
You can watch a very brief teaser trailer that Netflix posted to its Twitter account below. It doesn’t give us any information, but it sure made for a surprising announcement.

This announcement isn’t too much of a surprise. It seems Netflix has become more interested in adapting popular video game franchises to its platform. Just last month multiple Resident Evil television projects were announced for the platform as well.
It also sounds like we should expect more Ubisoft properties to make their way to Netflix in some form or another.
This news comes just a few weeks before the release of the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which launches on November 10.
