The important difference between regular root beer and Extra Fizzy Root Beer is the Dried Ginger. If you substitute this for normal ginger, you’ll end up with normal root beer! If you don’t have it in your inventory, check this area to make sure you picked up the item.

By using the Dried Ginger that you obtained during the quest in the caves, the recipe changes into this extra fizzy variant. From here, you can bring it back into the caves and clear out the night thorn roots to progress through the quest.
