How to Get the Leviathan’s Breath Catalyst in Destiny 2

The Leviathan's sigh gets a little bit deeper.

The landscape of Destiny 2’s meta is constantly shifting, and it can be daunting trying to keep up with what exotics are considered “good” in any given season. Luckily, we have a few to choose from in Season of Defiance, with one of the most consistent being the Exotic heavy bow Leviathan’s Breath. With that said, here’s how to get the Leviathan’s Breath Catalyst in Destiny 2.

How to Get the Leviathan’s Breath Catalyst in Destiny 2

Everyone’s favorite bike-chain strapped bow does incredible damage to both single-target bosses and groups of powerful foes alike thanks to its massive and suppressing void explosion. The Leviathan’s Breath Catalyst decreases the bow’s draw time with precision hits as well as increasing the number of arrows from 10 to 15. Usually, Catalysts are locked behind random drops at the end of activities like Strikes, but I have a surefire method for getting this one in a cinch.

Load up Grasp of Avarice in the Cosmodrome. Don’t worry about finding a Fireteam, we’re flying solo for this one.

Locate the two orange health bar Witches. These are our targets – the Leviathan’s Breath Catalyst drops from powerful enemies, and these two fit the bill. Blast away until they’re both down. Don’t worry if you don’t get it right away, they respawn after a short time.

If needed, refill on Heavy ammo in the loot cave. The loot cave is located just under where the two Witches spawn. If you don’t get a Catalyst drop before running out of ammo, just kill some thrall with a Heavy Ammo Finder mod and get some more!

And that’s it! It took me about ten minutes, or six Witches, to get a Catalyst drop. Here’s hoping your venture takes even less time.

As far as leveling the Catalyst, I’d recommend heading into Xur’s Dares of Eternity and getting the Heavy Ammo regeneration buff from the obstacle course after the first event. This ensures lots of kills, and therefore lots of Catalyst progress.

If you’re still missing Leviathan’s Breath, be sure to grab an Exotic Cypher either from Xur or the Season Pass, then head to the Monument of Lost Light in the Tower to buy it.
