How to Get Relic Remains in Honkai: Star Rail

The remains of a failed item

While leveling up Traces, Light Cones and the character’s own level is important in Honkai: Star Rail, their biggest glow-up always comes from their Relics. Without them, even the best fighters in the game will fall short in front of the first obstacle they’re faced with. Finding the perfect balance between farming both Relics and other things is important. And you can always create your own Relics to make this process easier.

When creating a Relic of your choice in the Omni-Synthesizer, you’ll need to give a few Relic Remains first for each of them. And you can probably guess where you can get them from this name alone. But well, there are some other sources around too. Here’s how to get Relic Remains in Honkai: Star Rail.

Where to Obtain Relic Remains in Honkai: Star Rail

Relic Remains are mainly obtained by Salvaging 5-star Relics. As you’ll quickly discover when first farming for them, you’ll end up getting tons of pieces with useless stats/susbstats (such as Defense % on an Attack-focused set). So instead of hoarding them like you hoard battle items in an RPG, just recycle them.

You can salvage them by heading to the Relics tab in your inventory and selecting the “Salvage” option at the bottom. Select the ones you absolutely know you’re not using for anything and dismantle them. Have no mercy on those pieces. You know you’re not leveling them. This is better than letting them gather dust.

Each salvaged 5-star Relic gets you 10 Relic Remains and you need 100 of them to make a new Relic of your choice. So for every 10 salvaged Relics, you get a free Relic of your choice back. Salvaging 4-star Relics or lower will only get you Relic EXP Materials instead.

Certain events such as Stellar Flare can also get you some Remains if you complete their extra event challenges. These are usually tougher than the “obligatory” (read as “Stellar Jades-giving”) ones, so come prepared.

And lastly, you can get 200 Remains from the paid version of the Nameless Honor at Level 40, the same level where you get your free Self-Modeling Resin. This is basically the game shouting at you that it’s time to gear up, so don’t ignore it!

Making your own Relics is time-consuming, but it’s always worth it and even necessary if you wanna tackle the hardest levels on the Forgotten Hall and the Simulated Universe. And if you have a few Self-Modeling Resins in your hands, don’t hesitate in using them either. They’re huge lifesavers for getting those perfect pieces, but you’ll need lots of Remains first.
