How to Use Self Modeling Resin in Honkai Star Rail

This item is just as rare as good gacha luck

Honkai Star Rail Self Modeling Resin

When you finally get that character from the banners, it’s time to maximize it to its full potential. And in Honkai: Star Rail, this means leveling up, giving them a strong Light Cone, ranking up their Traces and, most importantly, finding some good Relics. Synthesizing can help a lot in that, and Self-Modeling Resing is your best friend for doing that.

Although very scarce, the Resin lives up to its rarity by being single-handedly the most powerful item you could use when making your own Relics instead of dropping them. And you definitely don’t wanna waste it, so here’s how you should be using Self Modeling Resin in Honkai: Star Rail.

How and Where to Use the Self-Modeling Resin in Star Rail

Self-Modeling Resin is an item obtained as a reward for reaching Level 40 at the free Nameless Honor battle pass. All players can get the Resin, regardless of buying the BP or not. It allows you to choose which Main Stat your Relic will have when crafting it through the Omni-Synthetizer.

When making a new Relic through it, you can select Customized Synthesis to spend one Self-Modeling Resin and pick a desired Main Stat from the various available choices. Resin isn’t available for Head or Hand parts since those always have HP and ATK as fixed Main Stats respectively.

Relic crafting is quite better in Star Rail when compared to its predecessor Genshin Impact since you actually get to choose which items you’re making. And when you add the Self-Modeling Resin to the mix, it makes getting that final piece to your build a little tad easier.

You should use your Resin either on the Planar Sphere or Body parts as they have the most possible main stats. Planar Spheres in particular can only be obtained through Simulated Universe runs, and you’re usually going for one specific Elemental damage (out of ten possible stats) type in it. My first Resin became a Quantum Sphere for Seele since I never managed to drop a good one.

The main drawback is that you only get to pick the main stats. Substats and which of them is leveling up are still up for RNG to decide. Oh, and also the fact that Self-Modeling Resin is extremely rare.

Where to Get More Self-Modeling Resin

Players can usually get only a single Resin per patch with each Nameless Honor. Buying its paid version won’t give you any extra ones, so don’t bother with that (unless you really need those resources). This makes it one of the rarest items in the game. And it definitely makes sense considering how powerful it is.

But some occasional events, such as the Everwinter City Museum Ledger of Curiosities will also grant one Resin for players who complete it to its fullest. This will most likely happen during a single event per patch. The item isn’t even available for purchase with real money, so they definitely don’t want to give it out that easily.

So whenever you get a Self-Modeling Resin, think well about which item you’ll be using it in. You’ll get another chance eventually, but only after another 40 days. And you definitely wanna finish these events for the extra Resins, which will often ask you to buy some odd items.
