Espeon is one of the cutest Eeveelutions, don’t even deny it. Otherwise, why would you be looking to add it to your team in Gen 9? The Psychic-type Pokemon can be both caught and evolved in the Paldea region so you can pick which way you’d like to obtain it. Here’s how to get Espeon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Evolving Espeon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
To evolve Espeon, you obviously need an Eevee. I’m assuming you have one already but if you don’t, read our How to Get Eevee in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet guide first and then come back.

With an Eevee in hand, there are three things that you must do before it can evolve into Espeon:
- Raise its friendship level to high.
- Evolve it during the daytime.
- Make sure it doesn’t know a Fairy-type move.
How to Get Eevee’s Friendship Level High
Raising friendship in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet may seem tricky but once you know what to do, it doesn’t take long at all. There are two main ways: take your ‘mon on Picnics or feed it specific Berries.
When on a Picnic, interact with your Eevee by throwing a ball, bathing it, and feeding it a sandwich. You may need to do this a few times in order to increase its friendship level high enough for the evolution.
Alternatively, you can use specific Berries that raise friendship level. Be warned that they also decrease a stat at the same time so it’s up to you whether you want to use this method or not.

Once your Eevee’s friendship level is high enough, first ensure that it DOES NOT know a Fairy-type move as it will evolve into Sylveon instead. Also check that it is daytime because if it isn’t, you’ll get Umbreon and you’ll have to start over with a new Eevee.

Level up your Eevee by one level during the day, either by using Candy or battling and catching wild Pokemon, and it will evolve into Espeon.
How to Catch Espeon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
If you’d rather catch an Espeon than evolve an Eevee, you can get one in the wild. It is a special Tera Pokemon and appears in a cave in the northeast section of South Province (Area Three). It is level 50 so make sure you come prepared. Good luck!
