One of the first tools you need to help with survival is the pickaxe in LEGO Fortnite. However, you need a few different items and a bench before you can start collecting tools. You can read all about it in my guide.

How to Craft a Pickaxe in LEGO Fortnite

To get a Pickaxe, you need to combine five pieces of wood at a Crafting Bench. If you’re looking for tools this early into LEGO Fortnite, that also means you need access to a Crafting Bench in the first place. You can easily make one by opening up the build option and combining three pieces of wood with five pieces of granite.

Don’t worry if you don’t have any ingredients or materials for crafting just yet. Without having a Forest Axe or a Pickaxe you can still pick up small materials. Anywhere there are boulders or trees there will also be small granite rocks and branches of wood that you can pick up. But that also means you only get one of those materials per item that you pick up.

LEGO Fortnite: How to Craft a Pickaxe:

  • Make a Crafting Bench with 3 wood and 5 granite.
  • Craft the pickaxe with 5 wood.

At the very least, slowly collecting will get you to the Crafting Bench and at least one set of tools. Then you can begin breaking down all the boulders you want for far more materials at one time. Make sure to start saving up your wood planks to create chests and have a healthy supply of granite stored away for crafting later on.

When you upgrade your Crafting Bench later on in the game, you will have access to better pickaxes. The standard pickaxe takes forever to break down boulders and having a nice upgrade will save you plenty of time in LEGO Fortnite.

In between your crafting, make sure you eat plenty of food to keep the hunger at bay.
