Palworld may finally be available on Xbox and PC, but some people seem to be having trouble playing with friends. Here’s how to fix the Palworld failed to host multiplayer session error.
How to Fix Palworld Multiplayer Not Working
1) Restart Palworld
First things first, you’ll want to give Palworld a quick restart if you haven’t already. This will prevent any possible errors on launch that could prevent multiplayer from working. You can also verify your game files while it’s not launched. This can either be done through the game’s properties in your Steam Library if playing on Steam, or through the settings of your game on PC Game Pass. On Xbox, you can also check the install settings for Palworld to find this feature.
2) Reset your Internet Connection
Provided that didn’t work, it’s also worth double-checking your internet connection. Resetting your router can be a good way to eliminate any potential issues, though a restart of your device can help to double-check that it isn’t on your end either.
3) Check Palworld’s Servers
Provided that neither of those fixes worked, then it may just be a matter of Palworld’s servers. As the Palworld team has mentioned at launch, the server host for the game is currently experiencing issues due to just how massive the influx of players is. It could just be a matter of needing to wait a few hours for things to cool off and for the server load to ease up a bit. While this doesn’t stop solo play from happening, the fact that it stops multiplayer can be a tad frustrating.
In all fairness to the development team though, Palworld has had a much larger launch than anyone could’ve anticipated. The team sold one million copies by eight hours after launch, so the hype behind the game is colossal. Now it’s just a matter of how effectively the team will be able to correct issues like this.
How to Check Palworld Server Status
If you’re checking this in the future, or simply want to get an update on the server situation, there are two places worth checking. The first would be Palworld’s official Twitter account. Here, the developers are likely to post whenever any sort of downtime is occurring or if servers have unexpectedly come offline and need to be repaired.
The other location would be the official Palworld Discord server. This will have similar announcements to the Twitter page but has the bonus of immediate input from other players. If there are issues with your game or the servers, the #palworld-help channel can be immediately useful.
