Dyeing your clothes in Stardew Valley is one of the best and cheapest ways to switch up your appearance without having to take a visit to the Wizard’s shady basement. If you want to change the color of your clothes but you’re not sure how you’ve come to the right place. You will find everything you need to dye your entire wardrobe in this guide.
Where Can I Dye Clothes in Stardew Valley?
You can dye clothes using the Dye Pots or the Sewing Machine found in Emily and Haley’s Sewing Room. Emily and Haley’s house is on the south side of Pelican Town in the Town Center, and their Sewing Room is the one to the right of the door. Both dyeing methods work slightly differently, but regardless of which method you choose to dye your clothes, you will end up with a great result in the end.
How to Dye Clothes Using the Dye Pots
The first method you can use to dye your clothes in Stardew Valley is with the Dye Pots. The Dye Pots are lined up along the right side of the Sewing Room and are quite simple to use. Interact with the Dye Pots to open up the dyeing menu, where you will see each of the six pots.
You have to place an item of the corresponding color in each pot. Once you do, the Dye Bottle underneath the pots will light up with rainbow colors. Click the bottle to open up another window where you can manipulate the color sliders to find the shade you’re looking for. Select OK to confirm and dye your item.
How to Dye Clothes Using the Sewing Machine
Dyeing clothes using Dye Pots requires more materials than the Sewing Machine does, so you might want to opt for that method instead. Dyeing clothes with the Sewing Machine is even easier than using the pots. To get started, interact with the Sewing Machine and place the clothing item you want to dye in the box on the left side of the machine.Â
The item you place in the box at the top right of the Sewing Machine is what will actually dye your clothes, so you will want to pick it accordingly. You can see the change it will make to your clothes on the right side of the window. Press the on button to run the Sewing Machine to dye your item. You might have to run the Sewing Machine a couple of times to get the full opacity of the color you’re after, so remember to bring multiples with you.
Lugging items to the Sewing Room can get tedious, especially if you forget something. Crafting a chest or even a Big Chest to keep things in the Sewing Room is a great way to make sure you will always have items waiting for you whenever you want to dye something.Â
