How to Complete Where Hope is Built in Starfield

Hope isn't exactly what we have right now.

You’ve done it! You’ve become a Deputy of the Freestar Rangers in Starfield, gotten your badge and gone on your first assignment to help a farmer from a group of Ruffians looking to buy her farm for pennies on the dollar. However, what exactly the Ruffians were up to and why they were there remains up in the air. That’s where our next mission comes into play. Here’s how to complete Where Hope is Built in Starfield.

As mentioned, you’ll get the mission Where Hope is Built after finishing the first mission in the Freestar Collective faction mission line, Deputized. We last left off with the Ruffians being killed, and a slate detailing how they got their ship through a contact in HopeTown. That lead, is where we’re headed next.

Talk to Daniel Blake

After you finish up with Deputized, head to the Rock in Akila City and report to Marshal Blake on the top floor. He wants a debrief of how things went, to which both you and Emma provide that explanation. After giving him the slate and hearing about the Freestar uniforms they were wearing, he’ll recall that they were part of the Freestar Collective’s First Cavalry, known during the Colony War. He’ll point you to HopeTown, seeing as that’s where the ship was stolen. There, he’ll want you to meet Nia Kalu, the Freestar Ranger’s contact stationed there.

Go to Polvo’s Orbit

To kick things off, you’ll want to head to the orbit of Polvo, located in the Valo system nearby. This is where HopeTown is located. However, things aren’t looking too great when you reach orbit.

Board Nia Kalu’s Ship and Talk To Her

Once you arrive, Nia Kalu will put out a mayday radio message in a panic, as you might notice her ship isn’t looking so hot. Head over and dock with the ship, then head to the cockpit to find her looking no better than her ship. She’ll tell you she was after some outlaws going after merchant ships, but they got the drop on her. Despite being able to fend them off, she and the ship took some considerable damage.

To get her ship worth flying again, you will need to make a few repairs. There’s one repair point on the same floor as the cockpit, one on the floor below, and one on the floor above. Interact with each to repair it, then return to Nia. She’ll be grateful for the repairs, and send you in the direction of the outlaws; the moon of Miatha.

Go to Miatha and Destroy the Outlaw Ships

Make your way to the orbit of Miatha, and you’ll find the four outlaw ships nearby, who would love to kill you. Focus each one down, then make your way back to Polvo and down to Hopetown to continue the mission.

Talk to Nia Kalu and Ron Hope

Once you’ve landed in Hopetown, speak with Nia in the main HopeTech building and she’ll bring you to Ron Hope, the head of HopeTech and HopeTown. He’ll be in a meeting, so you’ll probably have to stand there awkwardly for a moment. Once you speak with him, he’ll express his outrage over the ship being stolen from his factory. He’ll want the thief found and brought to justice, of course, flexing his status as head of HopeTech and as a member of the Council of Governors.

Mid-way through the conversation, one of the workers Cosette will come in mentioning a development. Apparently, the stolen ship the Ruffians used has landed in Neon. According to Nia, there’s a Ranger named Jaylen Price stationed there who can help you. This ends the mission.
