How to Complete Icons of Power Quest (Overload Rune) in WoW: Season of Discovery

The earliest discovery of them all.

The Icons of Power quest in World of Warcraft Season of Discovery is Shaman’s introduction to the Rune system. It also gifts you with the Overload Rune, which is great for leveling early on, so here’s what you need to do to get it.

How to Complete Icons of Power in Season of Discovery

The Icons of Power quest will be available for all players with their Class Trainer as soon as they reach Level 2 with their Shamans. Steps and starting points will vary according to the race you got, but we only get two different versions for all three possible Shaman characters.

Orc/Troll

Both races start at the same place and get the quest from Shikrik. Your goal here is quite simple as all you have to do is to hunt some Scorpids north of the camp to get the Dyadic Icon drop from them. You need to reach Level 3 to use it.

Once you do, you’ll need to take Nature damage from any source to learn the Rune. The Scorpid Workers poison attacks are the easiest source for that, so keep fighting them for a little while.

Keep an eye on the Building Inspiration buff you have until it reaches 10 stacks and turns blue. This means you can finally return to Shikrik and complete your quest.

Tauren

As for Tauren, the quest can be obtained from Meela Dawnstrider, the local Class Trainer. The Icon was stolen by the Quillboar Shamans here, so you’ll have to walk to their lair in the Brambleblade Ravine to retrieve it. Walk in its direction and enter the cave to start finding your targets.

Target the Shamans (the ones with blue clothing) as they’re the only ones who’ll drop your items. Once you obtain your drop and use it, go back to fight with more Shamans and let them cast their Lightning Bolts on you, as it counts as Nature damage. Receive 10 strikes of Nature damage(without dying, of course), and you will learn the Rune. Return to Meela, and the quest is over.

Tip:

Once the damage requirements are done, open your character screen and you’ll see the rune to your weapon, so use it to actually learn it.

Once you complete the quest with any race, you’ll get a chest piece too (if you haven’t dropped one yet). The Rune can be attached to it and will teach you Overload, which will be extremely useful for your early leveling. Some other later Runes will require even harder challenges such as meeting the Secret Rune Vendor’s requirements.
