How to Beat Holey in Sons of the Forest

Get a gun, because this will be a nasty fight

Holey is one of the few new enemies that arrived in Sons of the Forest in the full release (1.0 Version). It’s big, it’s gruesome, and it hits like a tank. If you’re wondering how to beat Holey in Sons of the Forest, I’ll be glad to show you tips.

How to Defeat Holey in Sons of the Forest

Holey is quite big, and you can easily mistake it for a slow fellow when you first see its movement. Its appearance consists of three short hands it’s walking on and a huge, hole-filled torso (if you have Trypophobia, this will indeed be an uncanny experience). It has two very surprising and fast attacks that will catch many players off-guard, even if they are seemingly ready for a fight.

Holey has two long-range attacks that you need to look out for:

  1. As soon as you see it lifting one of its hands while standing still (usually, it would be the hand that’s closest to you out of three available ones), you need to start dodging by strafing left or right while looking at it. What happens is that Holey performs an insanely fast dash with the idea of knocking you out and dealing some damage in the process.
  2. As soon as you see it crouching (it is hardly noticeable because it crouches just a little bit), you should try to escape anywhere because Holey will jump high in the air and perform a WWE-style smackdown on your last known location, knocking you out and dealing damage if you don’t manage to run away from the spot. After it slams the ground, it will render itself immobile for a few seconds, which should allow you to strike it from a melee range.

Logically, based on the input above, most of the attacks you should be performing against Holey are ranged, similar to how you would deal with Legsy. Make sure to have a Pistol, or at least a Bow / Compound Bow.
