Don't miss the extra damage.

Wizards and Witches can find new gear fairly early into Hogwarts Legacy, and depending on the rarity, some of the gear will have trait slots. You can get through a good chunk of the game without learning exactly how to equip traits or even what they do within the game.

Traits are essentially small buffs that you can add to your gear to make your character even more powerful than they were before. These could be defensive buffs or increases to damage on specific spells. So you can get a head start, we’ve put together a guide on how to add traits to gear in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy – How to Add Traits to Gear

To get started on enhancing your gear, you’ll need an Enchanted Loom. This device is used to add traits to your gear and upgrade your clothes in general so that you have even more customization on hand. But getting an Enchanted Loom requires a few steps within the game to be completed.

Players will need to complete “The Room of Requirement” quest from Professor Weasley to unlock the initial room. Afterward, Wizards and Witches will need to progress to the Beast Classes that lead to the “The Elf, The Nab-Sack and The Loom” quest which is issued by Deek.

In that quest, you’ll learn how to conjure the Enchanted Loom within the Room of Requirement. With the device, you can start adding traits to any gear that allows it and upgrading other pieces as well. However, you’ll still need to find recipes for traits out in the wild or from some shops, so get exploring in Hogwarts Legacy.
