To obtain a platinum trophy in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, you must first unlock all the hidden trophies. The Surge Trophy is one of the hidden trophies to find. In this guide, I will show you how to quickly and easily obtain the Surge Trophy in Spider-Man 2.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: How to Get the Surge Trophy
To get the Hidden Surge Trophy in Spider-Man 2, you must first unlock the Symbiote suit, acquire all of the Symbiote’s special abilities, Surge ability, and then use these abilities on 25 enemies.
Players must also upgrade certain skills on Peter Parker’s individual skill tree. These will make fighting the 25 enemies and unlocking the trophy a lot quicker.
Players can use the Anti Venom Suit, Symbiote Suits, and Black Suit while completing the trophy hunt.
Unlock the Symbiote Suit in Spider-Man 2
To obtain the Symbiote suit from Harry Osborn, players must first complete a section of Spider-Man 2’s main story. Once you reach this point in the game, you can upgrade your abilities. Keep in mind that upgrades also depend on the amount of Skill Points you must spend.
Upgrade Peter Parker’s Skill Tree
The following step is to level up Peter Parker’s Spider-Man skill tree. All skills on the left-hand side of Pete’s Skill Tree are for the Symbiote suit and are needed to attain the trophy in discussion.
These skill upgrades allow Pete to recharge his abilities faster, increase the Surge meter capacity and length, and increase the surge meter gains you get from combat. All these skill upgrades work together to improve Pete’s combat skills, almost making him untouchable.
All the images below display the different Symbiote suit upgrades needed to speed up the hunt for the Surge Trophy. Some skill upgrades will cost one skill point, while others will cost two skill points.
Unlock Symbiote Suit Special Abilities
The other main component to passing this test is having all of the Symbiote Suit Special Abilities and Surge Mode. These become available when playing the main story of Spider-Man 2.
The abilities important for this are:
- Anti-Venom Bomb,
- Anti-Venom Strike,
- Anti-Venom Blast,
- Anti-Venom Tempest,
- Anti-Venom Yank, and
- Anti-Venom Punch.
Please note that all of these will first be called Venom Blast, Strike, etc., before you unlock the Anti-Venom suit closer to the end of the game and main story.
To deploy these abilities, you must hold L1 and press one of the face buttons: X, Square, Triangle, or Circle. To activate Surge Mode, you must press L3 + R3 together and unleash the beast.
Some abilities work better than others. The abilities that work best on multiple enemies are the anti-venom yank, anti-venom blast, and anti-venom bomb. When using these select powers, the damage, the recharge speed, and the number of enemies affected will speed up the process.
The final step below is the method and order you should use to make sure you are doing it right and completing the challenge.
Use Special Abilities on 25 Enemies in Surge Mode
The final step to unlocking the Surge Trophy is using the special abilities on 25 different foes while in Surge mode.
To do this, players must first fill the surge bar and activate it. Once activated, fight your enemies and try to use your special abilities on them. Once the surge meter is depleted, use gadgets, block attacks, and finish combos to fill the surge meter and abilities. Rinse and repeat these steps.
You do have a choice to complete the Surge Trophy soon after unlocking the Symbiote suit, abilities, and skills, or do it at the end of the game. The latter will be the smarter option because the possibility of your Spidey being 100% upgraded is very high.
By the time you tackle the Surge Trophy, you will have finished half by doing side missions and the main story, considering you chose to stay in the Symbiote suit for the majority of the game. It’s one of the easier trophies to collect while on your adventure in New York City.
Complete the Surge Trophy when doing side missions, completing Symbiot nests, or while swinging around the neighborhood reporting for duty on certain crime reports.
That is all you need to know to get the Surge Trophy in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and get that platinum trophy to add to your collection. For more on Spider-Man 2, you can read: How to Get The Soar Trophy in Spider-Man 2.
