Final Fantasy 7 Remake Chocobo Search Locations Guide

When you have to revisit the Sector 5 Slums in the latter portion of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you’re going to note that you’ve actually got a fair amount to crack through and that you have a chance to get acclimated to all the citizens that the game sets you on a trajectory to, well, save. Forget the broader implications of JRPG good versus evil, the people of Sector 5 are concerned with things that are a little bit closer to home, and some of those things involve lost pets. Well, maybe not pets, per se.

When you’re kicking around trying to unlock Fast Travel, you’re going to see a Chocobo handler with a quest marker outside town. He’ll tell you that there are a couple of birds that need saving, and we’ve got the Chocobo search locations right here for you to check out so that you can return them all home. We don’t think that these domesticated lads were meant to be traipsing around the wilderness, per se.

  • By the Sector 5 Slums Church – there’s a shack close to the church that Cloud unceremoniously crashes into during the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. You’re going to want to keep an ear out for what sounds like a Chocobo in distress. Head towards the sound and cross the street to find the poor thing in need of a snack.
  • By the Junkyard – you’re going to want to prep to do a bit of fighting. You’re going to be technically outside city limits here for this, but you’ll actually see this Chocobo in plain sight after you head out of town and take a right when you bump into a reporter. Unfortunately, it won’t be alone. You have to defeat a Rust Drake before you can feed this Chocobo and rescue it for the purposes of the quest.
  • By the Collapsed Expressway – approach this from Sector 6 instead of Sector 5. You’ll want to make a beeline right through it and you’ll also happen across this Chocobo in plain sight. You’re going to run into enemies again that need to be taken down, so just do so and feed this other Chocobo. After you’ve completed this task, you should be able to go to Wall Market and get an item off Sam to make all Chocobo rides free of charge. Now that’s what we call service!

Now that you have our guide to all the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Chocobo search locations, you should be able to wrangle all of these birds who have gotten lost in some rather precarious situations. We reckon there’s nothing quite like helping out beloved animals when it comes to charity, and this extends to beasts of burden, so you can rest easy knowing that you’re being perceived as a bit of a hero. After you’ve spent the bulk of the game looking for a whole bunch of other critters, like the cats in the Lost Friends quest (and we have a guide just on those locations if you’re so inclined), this should be a piece of cake, honestly. Chocobos are much easier to spot.
