Final Fantasy 7 Remake Summons List

You’re definitely going to be familiar with summons in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake after the game does a decent job of walking you through how to use Ifrit as an example. You get the material necessary to summon Ifrit from Jessie after cracking through Chapter 3 of the main narrative, and after that, well, it’s really anyone’s game when it comes to using summons. Generally they tend to kick in during times of need, mostly when you’re getting your teeth absolutely kicked in by an enemy that’s pursuing you.

We’ve found that this has been a bit of a panic response on the game’s part, but once the Summon bar shows up when you’re in pinch, it’ll just be a matter of staying alive long enough for it to fill so that you can call a companion down. As to which summon gets picked in battle is a random affair at this stage, but generally you’re going to want to whack a summon materia wherever it fits to round out your party. Now, we’re gonna start talking a list of all the Final Fantasy 7 Remake summons that you can find in the game. We’ve got a bit of a rundown as to how you can get them as well.

  • Bahamut – You get this summon fairly late in the game from Chadley after you’ve defeated the Battle Intel: Combat Simulation – Bahamut fight.
  • Cactuar – You get this summon from ordering the Deluxe Edition of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
  • Carbuncle – You get this summon from ordering the First Class Edition of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
  • Chocobo & Moogle – When you’re kicking around Sector 4 on the Upper Plate, you have to take out foes in the Plate Ventilation Facility Control Room and do this in under a minute. If successful, there will be a panel that you can interact with at the exit (this is green) and it will contain the Materia.
  • Chocobo Chick – Preordering the Final Fantasy 7 Remake gets you this summon.
  • Fat Chocobo – When you’re in Sector 6 (Wall Market specifically), you’re going to have to go find Chadley and finish Battle Intel: Combat Simulation – Fat Chocobo.
  • Ifrit – You’ll get this from Jessie in Chapter 3 without needing to anything aside from complete the main story quests.
  • Leviathan – When you’re in the Sector 5 slums, speak to Chadley and defeat Battle Intel: Combat Simulation – Leviathan when prompted.
  • Shiva – Defeat Battle Intel: Combat Simulation – Shiva after chatting to Chadley in Chapter 8 while you spend time in the Sector 5 slums.

Now that you have our Final Fantasy 7 Remake summons list to hand, you should be able to keep an eye out for when you might next encounter a particular powerful summon as an ally in the game, or at the very least get a better understanding of how to use the existing summons that you’ve unlocked. For instance, if you find that Rude has been hard to deal with, perhaps activating the right summon when prompted will turn him from explosive to harmless when neutralized. Check out our separate guide on taking down Rude here if you need it.
