Every Street Fighter Character, Listed

Maybe the real street fights were the rosters we made along the way

There have been countless characters across Street Fighter’s storied history. This guide lists each one and the games they appear in.

Every Street Fighter Character Listed

The following table lists every playable and opponent character in the Street Fighter series. Entirely story-based characters, including those who are simply referenced or appear only in Street Fighter 6’s extensive World Tour Mode, are excluded (apologies to Retsu). Characters from the Street Fighter EX series are also excluded, since the games were developed by Arika and Capcom does not own the rights to their unique characters (although there’s no telling what the future may hold now that Street Fighter 6 has opened the door to crossover characters appearing in mainline series games).

Characters that are listed as playable in any given “series” are always playable in each subsequent version of the game (for example, a character playable in Street Fighter Alpha is also playable in Alpha 2 and Alpha 3). The singular exception is noted below the table. As such, you can think of the table below as listing each character playable in the “ultimate” version of each Street Fighter game.

Any other important information regarding individual characters will be noted in parenthesis under their name.

A Note on Ultra Street Fighter 2:

Evil Ryu, Violent Ken, and Shin Akuma were added to the Street Fighter 2 series in Ultra Street Fighter 2, which released in 2017… 23 years after Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and 26 years after the original Street Fighter 2. While they are playable as part of the Street Fighter 2 series, they were introduced in “later” games.

A Note on 2nd Impact:

Shin Akuma is only playable (as a hidden character) in Street Fighter 3: 2nd Impact. He does not return in the final version of the game, 3rd Strike, and is the only Street Fighter 3 character to not be in a subsequent version of the game.

Street Fighter 5 currently features the largest roster of any Street Fighter game, but it also had many years to build to that point. Street Fighter 6 may bring back older characters, introduce new ones, or even bring in more crossover characters in the future—the possibilities are endless.
