Does Nightingale Have Controller Support? – Answered

Keyboard supremacy or controller comfort?

Like many of you, I occasionally enjoy sitting at my computer and completely ignoring my mouse and keyboard in favor of a controller because it feels more comfortable in some games. So, does Nightingale have controller support?

Can You Play Nightingale with a Controller?

On launch, Nightingale will feature partial controller support. For many games, that’s usually enough. In this one, many menus and options will still require a keyboard and mouse to alter, along with some of the in-game prompts. It’s unclear precisely what still requires a mouse and keyboard, however.

If you regularly use a controller to play on PC, you’ll likely have it sitting beside your mouse and keyboard to switch between the two at will. Perhaps it will be like GTA Online, in which using a mouse and keyboard to aim and a controller to fly or drive is the best of both worlds.

That said, Steam is generally great about supporting all types of controllers and ensuring that as many games as possible allow for controller support somehow. It seems like developer Inflexion Games will flesh out the controller support as we move through Early Access.

What Should You Use to Play Nightingale?

It’s entirely up to you which setup you use to play Nightingale. Some folks prefer using a controller no matter the game, even on PC, and others would never touch a controller. I fall somewhere in between. It usually depends on the game, and for something like Nightingale, I’ll likely opt for a mouse and keyboard for the entirety of my time in the Fae Realms.

If you want to test out controls, I recommend diving headfirst into a single-player game to ensure you can map everything correctly. If you’re with a group, especially in a new release with a fantastical open world to explore, chances are they’ll leave you behind!
