There have been rumors rumbling that a battle pass will be part of Diablo IV since late March. But associate game director Joe Piepiora has revealed some concrete details that have given players a glimpse into how this system will really work. Here’s everything you need to know about Diablo 4’s battle pass and how it will work.
Diablo 4 Battle Pass Explained: How Does it Work?
Battle Passes seem to be part and parcel of every game with a multiplayer component these days. From Apex Legends, all the way down to the very controversial Call of Duty implementation you can read about in our related link below.
Diablo IV’s battle pass features a free track and a premium track. The free track will be available to all players immediately and offers “season boosts” which will accelerate XP earned to make leveling multiple characters faster. The free track will also offer premium currency, which can be used to purchase cosmetics in the in-game shop or, possibly, purchase future battle passes.

The premium track offers seasonal cosmetics that offer no combat benefit but help ensure that you slay with style. These cosmetics will only be available to those who have purchased that season’s battle pass.
And yes, like Diablo III, Diablo IV will also have seasons, which battle passes will be connected to.
As for how much the Diablo IV battle pass will cost, players can expect to pay $10 USD. This number was announced during an official Diablo IV livestream, where developers outlined various mechanics and aspects of the game. This $10 price seems to be industry standard, but only you can decide if those cosmetics are worth it.
