Destiny 2 New PvP Maps

It seems as if Bungie is finally addressing a sore spot for many PvP players out there – new maps. Three new maps were previewed in the final Into the Light livestream, all of which take place in some of the recently added locations in Destiny 2.

Cirrus Plaza

Cirrus Plaza takes place on Neptune, in the recently added city of Neomuna that accompanied the Lightfall expansion. Keeping in line with Neomuna’s futuristic architecture, this map is already shaping up to be a fan favorite based on early first opinions.

Cirrus Plaza consists of many close quarter rooms, including an arcade as well as a large, vertical atrium with multiple floors.

Dissonance

This map is on a pyramid ship being terraformed by the Traveler. Compared to the other maps, Bungie has stated that this map will feature more open locations that could potentially lend to weapons focused on range and accuracy.

While the map may be larger than the other two, it will also feature smaller rooms within it for the shotgun warriors who enjoy close-quarter combat.

Eventide Labs

Finally, the third map will be set on the icy plains of Europa. Bungie described the map as an abandoned laboratory used as a refueling station for Eramis’ Ketch, which is very much visible within the map’s skybox.

Featuring many winding corridors, as well as open spaces, Eventide Labs is a perfect mix of close and long-range combat engagements.

While the new Crucible maps should be available in the regular 6v6 playlists such as Control, Bungie emphasized that these maps were built with a 3v3 competitive landscape in mind. When they do arrive on May 7, a separate 3v3 playlist featuring only these maps will be introduced so players can better get a feel for them.

Destiny 2: Into the Light drops on April 9 with a plethora of new free content, modes, and weapons for players to try out. For more information, check our full Destiny 2: Into the Light guide.
