Destiny 2: Into the Light Release Date

Destiny 2: Into the Light will be released on April 9, 2024, following the typical weekly reset schedule of 10 AM PT/1 PM ET/5 PM GMT.

Destiny 2: Into the Light Reveal Livestreams

Bungie has already revealed information surrounding Into the Light on several livestreams that took place on Twitch. If you wish to be up to date on all things Into the Light as we approach The Final Shape, be sure to tune into Bungie’s Twitch account on these following dates.

  • March 19, 2024 – 10 AM PT/1 PM ET/5 PM GMT
  • March 26, 2024 – 10 AM PT/1 PM ET/5 PM GMT
  • April 2, 2024 – 10 AM PT/1 PM ET/5 PM GMT

While two of these live streams have already taken place, there is one more carded for April 2 where even more details will be revealed.

Destiny 2 Onslaught

The new Onslaught PvE activity will be the main focus of Destiny 2: Into the Light. As promised, this will be a free horde mode that requires players to stop waves of the Witness’s forces from invading the Last City. Similar to Dares of Eternity, Onslaught will serve as a mid-season, expansion-delayed activity to keep players entertained until The Final Shape arrives.

Bungie has also stated that Onslaught will be a permanent mode, existing as a Ritual playlist activity alongside the Crucible, Vanguard Strikes, and Gambit.

Destiny 2 Hall of Champions

During the second livestream that took place on March 26, Bungie revealed that a new social space called the Hall of Champions will also be arriving in Into the Light. This space will serve as the hub for your Into the Light activities by allowing you to raise your reputation with Arcite and Shaxx, the Hall of Champions vendors.

You will also be able to acquire two keys from Arcite and Shaxx – Superblack Key Omega and Superblack Key Alpha. These keys will allow you to unlock the Superblack shader, as well as grant you access to various chests that contain different types of loot.

With the launch of Into the Light, new armor sets will be available for Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans. These armor sets take major inspiration from Year 1 of Destiny 2 and will be available to all players who jump back in during this time.

Destiny 2 Returning Timegated Weapons

Twelve fan-favorite weapons will also be returning for players when Into the Light launches. According to Bungie, these weapons will effectively be a “greatest hits” list of weapons from past Destiny 2 activities including raids, pinnacle pursuits, and more.

These weapons are as follows:

  • Midnight Coup (Hand Cannon)
  • Blast Furnace (Pulse Rifle)
  • Succession (Sniper Rifle)
  • Hung Jury SR4 (Scout Rifle)
  • Elsie’s Rifle (Pulse Rifle)
  • Mountaintop (Special Grenade Launcher)
  • Forbearance (Special Grenade Launcher)
  • Recluse (Submachine Gun)
  • Hammerhead (Machine Gun)
  • Falling Guillotine (Sword)
  • Edge Transit (Grenade Launcher)
  • Luna’s Howl (Hand Cannon)

However, these weapons won’t entirely be returning in their original forms. Bungie has stated that they will be reintroduced with brand new perk pools as well as “Limited Edition” versions that drop with refurbished looks and even more perks.

Then, there’s also the matter of “timegating”. All of these weapons will be available to players after three weeks of Into the Light being out. Following these three weeks, players will have just over a month to grind for limited edition variants of these weapons.

There will also be a weekly quest from Arcite that will guarantee players at least one limited-edition rarity of each of the twelve weapons before the event is over and the limited editions are no longer available.

Once The Final Shape has arrived, these weapons will still be farmable in the game. However, the limited edition variants will no longer be obtainable. It seems that Bungie has taken this route in an attempt to maximize player engagement leading up to The Final Shape.

Destiny 2 Enhanced Traits

Bungie has also revealed that the new weapons you collect from the Prophecy Dungeon as well as from Guardian Games All-Stars and playlist activities will all be able to have enhanced traits prior to the arrival of The Final Shape.

The affected weapons are as follows:

  • Prosecutor (Auto Rifle)
  • Adjudicator (Submachine Gun)
  • Relentless (Pulse Rifle)
  • Judgment (Hand Cannon)
  • Darkest Before (Pulse Rifle)
  • A Sudden Death (Shotgun)
  • Taraxippos (Scout Rifle)
  • The Title (Submachine Gun)
  • Hullabaloo (Grenade Launcher)
  • Wild Style (Grenade Launcher)
  • The Slammer (Sword)
  • Tusk of the Boar (Grenade Launcher)
  • Multimach CCX (Submachine Gun)
  • The Prophet (Scout Rifle)
  • The Summoner (Auto Rifle)

So there you have it, that’s everything we currently know about Destiny 2: Into the Light. As we approach the end of Season of the Wish, closer to the launch of The Final Shape, we’ll be sure to keep you informed on all things Destiny 2.
