The newest multiplayer craze is here with BattleBit Remastered, a massive online shooter with some simplistic graphics to accentuate the action. Jumping into this world is scary at first since you could be facing off against 128 other players at the same time, but once you’ve gotten your footing, you’ll be ready to hang with the best of them. If you’re looking to showcase your skills, or just play on the go, the Steam Deck is one of the best ways to partake in this shooter, that is, if it runs at all on the platform. Let’s jump into our fatigues and find out if you can take this show on the road.
Can The Steam Deck Run BattleBit Remastered?
As it stands of this writing, BattleBit Remastered runs like a dream on the Steam Deck. No matter if you are playing portable or with a dock, you’ll find you can take multiplayer mayhem on the go with you wherever you would like. However, there is a recent update that has Steam Deck players sweating a bit, especially if it means that they’ll lose access to their favorite shooter.

While BattleBit Remastered already feels better than most AAA shooters on the market, it doesn’t have the best Anti-Cheat methods in play yet, and could be swapped from Easy Anti-Cheat to FACEIT. While this may be great news for those on PC, it’s not good news for those playing on Steam Deck, as it would completely break compatibility with the platform. You see, Easy Anti-Cheat works across a variety of different operating systems, but FACEIT doesn’t work well with Linux at all.
This may alienate a large portion of the player base at this time, but it’s hard to know if this implementation will actually take effect any time soon, so we’ll just need to keep our eyes and ears pointed in their direction. While this may be great news for gamers that are hoping to run into fewer cheaters in this shooter, it means the end of Steam Deck support.

So, for the time being, you’ll still be able to jump into the mayhem on your portable powerhouse PC, but that may not be the case forever. While you can install Windows on the Steam Deck to make the jump back into the action, some players may not enjoy the differences from SteamOS. But, if that means you can jump back into BattleBit Remastered and take Honkai Star Rail on the go, it may be worth your time and effort.
