Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 offers a lot of close-quarter combat weapons that are perfect for running and gunning. However, only a few stand out, and even fewer when you only want a weapon that gives you the best mobility and fire rate to mindless run and gun enemies as you see them. Players tend to favor run and gun playstyle because it gives them more opportunities to level, and there is action in every corner. Here’s the best run and gun loadout and various weapon alternatives in Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
The Best Run and Gun Weapon in Call of Duty Black Ops 6
To find the best run and gun weapon, it must have a combination of high damage and fire rate while boasting the ability to get movement speed bonuses from perks and attachments without sacrificing any serious damage. Basically, we are looking for the weapon with the fastest shoot-to-kill time, which will most likely be weapons with those stats above.
There is no gun as close to this playstyle as the AS Val, but this gun unlocks at level 55, making it the hardest weapon to unlock. If you prestige, you’ll barely even use it. This is why we also have some other alternatives.
While other ARs like the XM4 can be built as a high-damage and mobile weapon, we’ll stick with both the Tanto .22 and the C9, which are both SMGs that offer high damage, a respectable recoil, and absurd fire rates.
The Tanto .22 is much slower than the C9, but the added range and accuracy help bolster your preferred engagements against the enemy, whereas the C9 wants it up close and personal all of the time.
In short, AS Val is the weapon you want if you have it unlocked; Tanto .22 is for maps with some mid-range combat; C9 is your go-to run and gun setup for small maps.
Complete Run and Gun Loadout in Call of Duty Black Ops 6
Before we get to the attachments, here are the almost mandatory perk slots for the run and gun loadout:
- Dexterity
- Fast Hands
- Double Time
Dexterity and Double Time have been basically the go-to for almost all loadouts because it improves your overall mobility. Double Time might get substituted at times for Cold-Blooded, depending on the situation in the current match. Fast Hands helps you swap to your other weapon faster if you run out of ammo and there’s an immediate threat incoming.
As for the Wildcard, you want Gunfighter, as we want to power up our weapon as much as possible.

AS Val weapon attachments
For the AS Val, we are switching Gunfighter for Perk Greed and adding Ghost or Ninja as a perk. Since the AS Val doesn’t need that many attachments to be great – it already has a built-in suppressor – you want to gain another utility skill as a perk and use these attachments instead:
- Stock: Balanced Stock
- Rear Grip: Assault Grip
- Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
- Magazine: Extended Mag II
- Fire Mods: Recoil Springs
These attachments boast one of the highest time-to-kill stats out of any weapons and provide high mobility. It’ll be a little hard to control, but it only takes some time to get used to.
Tanto .22 weapon attachments
While the Tanto .22 isn’t technically the strongest out of all the SMGs, it gives you more mid-range damage and has a fast ADS speed. You can literally copy all the attachments here and stick them into another SMG, like a KSV or a Jackal PDW.
- Optic: any you prefer
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Barrel: Long Barrel
- Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
- Stock: Balanced Stock
- Magazine: Fast Mag I
- Rear Grip: Ergonomic Grip
- Fire Mods: Recoil Springs
C9 weapon attachments
The C9 SMG is the most well-rounded SMG, and it is even unlocked by default. It offers a good time-to-kill stat and high mobility with a decent range.
- Optic: any you prefer
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Barrel: Long Barrel
- Balanced Stock: Stock
- Rear Grip: Ergonomic Grip
- Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
