Speed is an enormous focus for both systems coming out this holiday season to allow players to navigate menu options swiftly while doing everything possible currently to eliminate in-game loading times. During the recent strategy call, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida mentioned that the PS5’s speed is going to be key when it comes to total player immersion.
According to the Sony president, Sony’s goal is to “fill the world with emotion through the power of creativity and technology” while “getting closer to people” as players. There are many ways Sony is planning on achieving this with the PlayStation 5 in large part due to their first-party line-up and stunning Unreal Engine 5, but faster load times will also aid greatly in making sure that gamers never miss a beat.
Yoshida-san additionally mentioned that the game load times are going to be infinitely shorter to allow players to “move through immense game worlds in almost an instant.” It’s impressive, as is the Xbox Series X, and goes to show that petty console wars aside, the next generation of gaming is going to be a wild ride in terms of realism and adventurous escape.
