If you didn’t get a chance to check out the highly underappreciated Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, now is your chance because a remaster is coming – at least according to a leak on the official Xbox Store page. While not everyone is thrilled with the idea of remasters, Amalur is one of those games that was a hidden gem; a true treasure for those that experienced, but widely left in the dark for those that might have been interested.

Update: It has been CONFIRMED. Reveal here

The Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning remaster is set to arrive on August 11, according to the Xbox Live Marketplace. As we say with all leaks, take them with a grain of salt; that being said, this had full art, studio accolades, and the whole shebang. Given that there were a few planned showcases this week that were pushed back, it’s likely that this was one of the reveals and the takedown notice must have escaped the marketing team. The listing is also still live, so … yeah, that’s that! It’s too detailed to be a mistake altogether, which is great news for those that missed out on this adventure the first time around!

So what made this game so special? Well, for starters, renowned New York Times bestselling author R.A Salvatore was one of the great minds behind Reckoning, joined by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’s Ken Rolston. That’s a powerhouse of storytelling, all coming together to create an invigorating RPG experience meant to draw out the inner hero in players.

Gamers can create the hero of their dreams and play to a tailored style of their own thanks to the Destiny system in place. Choose what sort of hero you’ll be alongside one of the best, most responsive combat experiences in recent years. This world was massive too, filled with hundreds of unique characters, grim quests, and heroic feats. Amalur is also heavily rooted in lore, as one would expect when looking at the creatives lineup, making it a journey that is easy to get lost in and one that I personally come back to every couple of years or so.

While there hasn’t been an official announcement quite yet, Microsoft has to be aware that this listing is still up by now, which makes it likely that we will get some form of acknowledgment by End of Week at the very latest. While we wait for that, check out some of the other things happening currently in gaming:
