World of Warcraft will go down as one of the most addictive video games of all time, perhaps for the longest period; 10 years and counting. Of course, Blizzard has no interest in retiring its MMO cash machine, and plans to unleash the fifth expansion, Warlords of Draenor, upon the click-happy masses sometime this year.
We already covered Warlords of Draenor in this First Look and PvP Preview. That said, here are 7 reasons why we’re more than willing to say goodbye (again) to the real world.
Instant Level 90 Upgrade
Disappointed that your low level Dwarf isn’t strong enough to make a serious dent in Warlords of Draenor? How does a level 90 upgrade sound? You don’t even have to level grind. Keep in mind this only applies to one character, so choose wisely. Last but certainly not least, the level cap is now 100.
Explore the new Continent of Draenor
If you’ve seen everything WoW has to offer, get ready to explore the Orc home world of Draenor. This includes seven brand-new zones (Frostfire Ridge, Nagrand and Shadowmoon Valley to name a few), and one PvP zone. Time to get moving.
About that New PvP Zone…
Prepare to take part in a never-ending battle with constantly changing objectives. One second, you’re on the attack, and the next, furiously scrounging for supplies to strengthen your base. Command Iron Horde war machines or summon creatures. Just prepare for nonstop action.
Build Your Own Garrison
Enough wandering around. It’s time to build a home. Construct a Garrison and populate it with a variety of non-player characters that farm, man the armory and even go on quests. Fortify your crib and establish trade routes, or just kick back for a much-needed quest break.
Plenty of User Interface Improvements
It’s about time WoW’s UI received some tweaks. Blizzard will divide main story and side quests within the Quest Log so you don’t miss anything important. Furthermore, you’ll better categorize items using Sortable Bags (armor, for example). You’ll craft directly from the bank instead of making withdrawals, while Heirlooms and Toys will go into their own separate inventories.
Six New Dungeons
Get ready to slaughter monsters and grab loot in six never-before-seen dungeons, like Blackrock Depot, Iron Barracks and Bloodmaul Slag Mines. Fan favorite Upper Blackrock Spire will also make a welcome return. Even better? More max-level Heroic dungeons are on the way.
Improved Character Models
While not a next-generation upgrade, classic WoW races will sport enhanced visual detail, particularly when it comes to bone structure, beards and teeth. In case you need a refresher, the list includes Human, Dwarf, Night Elf and Gnome for the Alliance, with Orc, Undead, Tauren and Troll for the Horde.
