Tomb Raider Reboot Delayed Until Early 2013

Lara Croft is taking a little bit longer to get ready, but it should be worth it!

Chalk up another big Square Enix title that won’t make the holiday rush.  Today the company announced that Tomb Raider, the reboot in the long-running series featuring adventurer Lara Croft, is now been delayed until early 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

“Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game,” said Crystal Dynamics head Darrell Gallagher through the game’s official forums.  The studio wants to make sure that Tomb Raider is “the best game of our careers”, and certainly up to “a level that you deserve.”

The game was first shown off last year at E3, and it’s expected to have a similar presence at this year’s event at the company’s booth.  This is the second big high-profile delay to happen in the game industry for this month, following the news that Bioshock Infinite would not be meeting its October 16 release date, instead coming in early 2013 as well.

Not to worry though, Square Enix fans.  You’re still getting the awesome Hitman: Absolution just in time for your holiday fix on November 20.
