Where Does it Rain in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? – Answered

Water pouring down directly into my soul

Weather conditions were introduced all the way back in Generation II in the Pokemon games and were expanded as the games evolved. From mere environment details to battle-changing mechanics, they’re an integral part of the Pokemon trainer experience as many abilities and moves are closely related to the weather.

Some of them are even necessary to evolve certain Pokemon. Sliggoo is one of the best examples, as it only evolves into Goodra when it levels up during the rain, so it can be pretty challenging to do it reliably. Is there anywhere that always has some water pouring down on Paldea in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Where Does it Rain in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Meteorologists weren’t invented in Pokemon yet, so there’s no exact way to predict when or where it will rain in those games. Weather conditions are random, and there’s no way to pinpoint which areas will experience excessive water.

However, as it was pointed out in our Goodra article, it seems that two particular areas are fond of having water storms. The weather seems to be very present near the Pokemon Center in North Province (Area Two) near the Pokecenter. If it stops raining there, you can head a little bit to the south of where you fought Team Star’s Eri and see if you got lucky.

If those places cannot help you, your best bet is to simply wait a few minutes. But remember, you’ll never find rain in desert areas. If you think you did, it was probably just a mirage.

Can You Force Rain in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Although moves like Sunny Day and Rain Dance are present in the game, they’ll only affect the state of the current battle and won’t have any real effect on the overworld. It would all be too easy if you could just make it rain from the beginning, but that’s not how open-world Pokemon works.

No other item or NPC can trigger a sudden change in the weather either, so you’ll have to be lucky to get the blessing of the heavens in the form of pouring rain. At least all that you’ll need is a single minute if you want to evolve Sliggoo. Just keep your Candies ready and ensure it’s at least Lvl 50 to get your huggy big goo dragon.
